  • Salary $97,955 plus 12% superannuation.
  • Supportive branch environment.

The opportunity  

The Senior Recovery Specialist is responsible for several aspects of debt management, including managing a portfolio of complex and sensitive debt matters, providing assistance and training to staff and supporting the management team with developing and implementing initiatives. You will help shape the strategic management of debt, provide advice to management and contribute to continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Team Leader, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing a portfolio of debt, comprising highly sensitive or complex matters as required, including negotiating with taxpayers and their representatives at a senior commercial level.
  • Developing and implementing strategies, procedures and initiatives to improve debt management functions and capabilities.
  • Undertaking analysis and providing advice and support to the management team and contributing to continuous improvement in debt management.
  • Providing support, guidance and mentoring to branch staff.

 

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in applying debt recovery processes governed by Victorian taxation legislation and/or the Corporations Act 2001 and relevant court processes.
  • Understanding of, or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of the operation of taxes, grants and rebates administered by the SRO and related policies.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to assess and resolve issues, provide advice, and initiate improvements.
  • Excellent communication skills allowing you to develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships and influence change.
  • Excellent time management skills to enable you to maintain high standards of work and ensure work is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Excellent negotiation and customer service skills to provide authoritative advice and negotiate with stakeholders, taxpayers and their representatives.
  • Ability to support, guide and mentor individuals to achieve results.
  • Ability to initiate and influence improvements to systems and procedures in the work area and contribute to formulation of policy proposals, and
  • High level computer skills and abilities to research, compile, analyse and present accurate information.
